A 53-year-old teacher, identified as Bankim Mistry, lost his life after being hit by a local train today morning. Bankim Mistry was a primary teacher residing in the Sehera area under Najat police station of Basirhat.
The unfortunate incident occurred between Malatipur and Kankra Mirzanagar stations of the Sealdah-Hasanabad division. According to eyewitnesses, Mistry was walking on the railway track while engaged in a phone conversation when the Sealdah-Hasnabad local train struck him unexpectedly. It was disclosed that the victim, fondly known as Bankim Babu, was en route to meet his son in Kolkata when the tragic incident took place.
